The Procedure
The chin liposuction procedure will take approximately 1 to 2 hours to complete. It will be performed while the patient is awake, and no general anesthesia will be used. The advantage of this is that the patient will have a much faster recovery time after the procedure.
We provide a virtual reality headset to our patients so they will be comfortable throughout the entire chin liposuction procedure.
A tumescent solution will be infused into the chin region. This contains lidocaine (a local anesthetic), epinephrine, and normal saline. It swells the fatty tissue, numbs the area against any pain or discomfort, and helps to prevent blood loss during the procedure.
Next, a small tube called a power-assisted cannula will be inserted into a tiny incision in the chin area to break down the excess fat. Suction will be used to remove the excess fat through the cannula. The procedure will be finished once the goals of the patient have been achieved.
After Your Chin Liposuction
The patient can go home after their PAL chin liposuction procedure. Since no general anesthesia was used, patients can get back to their regular daily activities within 48 hours. Dr. Hennessy will provide recovery instructions to the patient. This will include the timeline for strenuous physical activities.
The patient will experience minor pain, bruising, and swelling while healing. The results of the chin liposuction procedure can be seen once the patient has fully healed and all swelling is gone.
